Our Surface Mount panels are used to bring existing curb ramps up to ADA code without having to pour fresh concrete.

The base of our Surface Mount panel is approximately 3/16 of an inch thick with all of the edges having an elevation of 30°.

Installation & related topics for Surface Mounts

1.1. Installation: The installer must be certified by USA Safety Domes that the installer has been trained to properly install the said safety domes and complies with installation instructions in order for the 5 year Warranty to be valid.

1.2 Preparation of Surfaces:

      1. Verify with general contractor that the concrete is properly cured. (Usually 40 days or more)

      2. Substrate must be clean, dry and free of oil. (if oil is present, clean with acetone)

      3. High spots on the substrates shall be removed by grinding them down.

1.3. Installation procedure:

      1. Drill holes into substrate for mechanical fasteners as per manufacturer instructions and training.

      2. Apply primer as per manufacturer instruction and training.

      3. Apply bonding agent with filler and accelerator as per manufacturer instruction and training.

      4. Attach mechanical fasteners into substrate as per manufacturer instructionand training.

1.4. Installation Environment: Surface mounts may be installed at temperatures of (35° 100° of substrate), provided the above procedures    are followed. Certified installer has the knowledge as to what changes need to be made for installing in lower temperatures.

1.5. After Installation Environment: Within an hour after installation, the surface mount panels are ready for foot traffic. No barricades are needed after installation.

1.6. Installation materials: All materials that are used in installation is included in the price of the mats. (Excluding tools)

Snowy Area Installation:  We recommend that the mats are installed with our provided Bonding Agent (it is applied over 100% of the mat area) and also using mechanical fasteners to adhere the mats tightly to the substrate.

Non-snowy area installation:  Mats may be installed by using just the bonding agent and then weighing down the top of the mats with sand bags for about 1 hour.   The concrete substrate needs to be somewhat even and smooth.

Helpful Information:
On some existing handicapped ramps there are heavy grooves and many times the concrete is convex in shape between the grooves.  Installing any surface mounted mat on this type of substrate can cause problems of getting proper bonding or having the mats adheres properly to the substrate.  We have found that the only way to solve this problem is to use extra bonding agent to fill the grooves or even better, is to use a concrete grinding machine to take about ¼ inch of concrete off of the uneven location where the surface mounted domes are to be placed.   This procedure will produce a small ¼ inch pan in which the surface mounted mat can be placed.  This is true of our mats, as well as, all of the other companies that manufacture surface mounted mats.  Please call us with any questions you may have in regard to this problem.
