SURFACE MOUNTS

STANDARD SIZES INCLUDE
2 ft. by 2 ft. , 2 ft. by 3 ft. or 2 ft. by 4 ft.

The base of our Safety Mats is approximately 3/16 of an inch thick with all of the edges having an elevation of 30°.

All of the domes at the base are 1.4 inches in diameter with a top of the domes at a diameter of .7 inch, which is .2 inches above the base.  This allows all of the domes to have an elevation of 30°.  This design on our mats allows snowplows to glide over the top of the mats and domes without destroying them.  This elevation design also lessens the tripping that other mats may cause.

SAFETY SKID RESISTANCE:  U. S. A. Safety domes have a skid resistance of over 0.9.  ADA suggests  a coefficient of friction of a least 0.6.  Tests have shown that our safety domes have a COF of over 1.

SNOWY AREA INSTALLATION:  We recommend that the mats are installed with our Bonding Agent ( it is applied over 100% of the mate area ) and also using mechanical fasteners to adhere the mats tightly to the substrate.

NON-SNOWY AREA INSTALLATION:  Mats may be installed by using just the bonding agent and then weighing down the top of the mats with sand bags or something similar for about  1 hour.   The concrete substrate needs to be somewhat even and smooth.

Our Surface Mounted Safety Mats are ready for foot traffic within 1 hour or less.

HELPFUL INFORMATION   On some existing handicapped ramps there are heavy grooves and many times the concrete is convex in shape between the grooves.  Installing any surface mounted mat on this type of substrate can cause problems of getting proper bonding or having the mats adhere properly to the substrate.  We have found that the only way to solve this problem is to use extra bonding agent to fill the grooves or even better, is to use a concrete grinding machine to take about ¼ inch of concrete off of the  uneven location where the surface mounted domes are to be placed.   This procedure will produce a small ¼ inch pan in which the surface mounted mat can be placed.  This is true of our mats, as well as, all of the other companies that manufacture surface mounted mats.  Please call us with any questions you may have in regard to this problem. U. S. A. Safety domes can be installed on a variety of surfaces.

The ADA requires that the greatest diameter at the base of the dome cannot be greater than 1.4 inches and the top of the dome cannot be smaller than ½ of the base of the dome.

U. S. A. Safety Domes meets and
exceeds all requirements set by the ADA.
